Whether it be the tightest control survey, high volume construction staking or a boundary, with 4 second angular accuracy and its rugged design the DTM-420 is suitable for use in the toughest environments. Can stand up to any wet weather condition that can occur in the field, giving the benefit of not experiencing down time due to inclement weather. Displays on each side of the instrument means you can shoot reverse angles easily. Nikon’s internal memory stores up to 500 coordinates or raw and station points. Data communication is possible with the RS-232C interface cable. Nikon’s Lumi-Guide emits two visible beams of coherent red light, one steady and one blinking, enabling the rod-man to locate the correct position quickly and easily by finding the position where both are visible. The bright beam is easy to detect 330′ from the instrument, increasing the speed and efficiency of any setting out work. In addition to indicating the stakeout direction, it provides a convenient signal for the rod-man, maintains the line of sight, helps prism detection in night surveying and ensures precise prism sighting. Nikon’s electronic dual axis compensator automatically detects inclination of the standing axis and applies a correction to vertical angles. Topcon’s pulse laser technology, measurement is virtually instantaneous 0.3 sec in tracking mode and 1.2 sec in fine mode. Fine focusing on each measurement point is not required. As a Class I invisible laser is used, the operation is completely safe for operator, rod person and passerby.
